Methodology
How we decide what goes on the register, where facts come from, what each label means and how entries are kept current.

What we list
A listing is a named insurance product, endorsement, program, performance warranty or certification-backed cover that affirmatively covers risk arising from AI, sold or announced by an insurer, MGA, broker or program sponsor. We also log moves that exclude AI from existing cover, regulator decisions and market deals in the tracker log.
Where facts come from
- The issuer's own pages: product pages, policy documents, press releases and filings.
- Regulators and form bureaus, such as state filings and ISO forms.
- Trade press, used when that is all there is, and always labelled.
Limits, capacity, territory, prices and how to buy go in only when a source states them. A blank field means the source is silent; we never estimate. Where sources disagree, the listing says so and gives both.
Labels
- Confirmed by issuer: the issuer's own page or release states it.
- Trade press only: reported by trade press; the issuer's own page has not confirmed it.
- Announced, not yet sold: the issuer has announced it, but it is not yet on sale or awaits approval.
Each company also carries a stance, decided by wording, not marketing:
- Covers AI: sells cover that names AI losses as covered.
- Silent: we found no AI wording either way.
- Excludes AI: its move on the register is an exclusion.
- Advice only: publishes AI risk guidance but no AI-specific cover.
Risk names such as hallucinations, AI agents or deepfakes are our labels for what each source describes. Wording, sublimits and exclusions decide what a policy actually pays.
Register numbers and order
Register numbers are assigned in the order we logged each listing and are never reused. Lists are ordered by the date of the latest published change. We publish no ratings or rankings.
Keeping it current
Every listing and log entry shows the date we last checked it. We aim to re-check each listing against its sources at least every 35 days, and we scan for new launches, exclusions and filings in between. Changes are dated in the tracker log and available as RSS and CSV.
Corrections
Email contact@aiinsurancetracker.com with the page and the source. We check it, fix the entry and log the change on the corrections page.
Independence
No company pays to be listed, and we do not sell insurance or take commissions. See about.
